Mechatronics and Robotics Society (MARS)
The Mechatronics and Robotics Society takes part in NASA’s yearly Lunabotics Competition. The competition involves students designing and manufacturing a robot capable of both excavating and depositing lunar regolith-like material.

As a member of the mechanical team I was responsible for performing analysis on various components and aiding in the manufacturing of the robot. For the analysis, I typically used a combination of hand-calculations and ANSYS to properly size structural members. For the manufacturing of our design, the water jet and the vertical mill were heavily used, but there were times when other machines were used. Being a member of MARS was a great experience. It taught me so much about engineering and helped me find life long friends.
