Subscale Sounding Rocket Capstone Project
For my capstone project at the University of Virginia, I aided in the development and design of a subscale sounding rocket.
| Skills | ||
|---|---|---|
| SolidWorks | ANSYS Fluent | Shock & Impact Analysis |
| MATLAB | C/C++ | Microcontrollers & Sensors |
For this project I was a member of both the aerobody and the avionics team. As a member of the aerobody subteam, I was the lead for the recovery system. As the lead I was responsible for performing hand calculations, analyzing structural members, writing a shock and impact simulation in MATLAB, and sizing of the parachute used in the rocket. For the avionics subteam, I was the lead programmer and I was responsible for writing the software necessary to interface with the various sensors we used. This project was one of my favorites because I was able to use apply my programming and engineering knowledge in a meaningful way. I was also able to enjoy my last year at UVA with some of my best friends.
